"I Refuse To Sink" [Seize The Day]

Hello again! As I'm sure most of you can probably tell, I've been on a local music kick for a little while now, except I don't really believe it to be a "kick". I would like to somehow, someday make this my profession, but until then I'll stick to my low budget camera and bands in the tri-state area. Anyway, hopefully you all checked out Seize The Day from Wilmington, DE by now. My interview with them is currently up on my youtube channel so go check it out if you haven't yet! I'll also embed the video at the bottom of this post because I like to try and make things convenient for you guys. :]

One thing you'll notice right away about the boys in Seize The Day...they're very young. In fact, the youngest member of the band, CJ, is only 14 years old! You wouldn't know it by their sound, though. I think it's great when I find young talent in any regard. Music, writing, art, anything at all really. It's just great and I'm happy that I can support these kids and give them a platform to stand on.

Now, while I'm of course going to encourage you to check out all the local bands and musicians I write about here, I do have to warn you that Seize The Day is somewhat heavy. There's a lot of screaming and moshing and pretty brutal drumming (yes, Ian, I'm talking about you). When you watch the interview you'll hear some music playing in the background. The first two songs that play are theirs. Due to technical difficulties, I was unable to use any of the footage I got to make a practice session video. I'm hoping to go see them over the weekend and get one. As soon as I do, I'll post it and let you all know so you can see them play. If you'd rather see them play live, they have a show coming up on December 15, 2012 with Us, From Outside and 7 other bands at School of Rock! 484 Century Blvd. Wilmington, DE. $10 to get in, Doors @ 6. Be there!

This is also acting at Seize The Day's EP release show! Their first EP, "I Refuse To Sink", drops December 12, 2012. All the guys are really excited about it. It's been in the making for about a year now and they beam with pride and excitement whenever they talk about it. I'm anxious to see how it comes out.

I would like to thank Shane, James F, James A, Richie, CJ and Ian
for being so great and letting me sit in on their practice and interview them. :]

Stay tuned for their practice session, to be posted soon!

Little House Booking [Meet Dawn]

Have a local band? Looking for places to play? Little House Booking can help you! Dawn Oliver is the founder of Little House Booking and as a lover of local music, I had some questions for her about how she got started in the booking business. Here's what she had to say. Enjoy!

NOTE: All Dawn's answers are REAL and appear exactly as she typed them.

1. How did “Little How Booking” come to be?

I began booking in June 2011. I booked my own birthday show with 7 local and out of state bands. We had a backyard stage built, two kegs,... it was pretty epic. Since then, I got involved with organizing shows, networking with bands and other bookers. The company fully launched in mid December. The experience has been nothing short of amazing.
2. How did it get its name?

"Little House Booking" originated from local house shows in the area. I used to put on a couple of backyard shows at my friend's house. We would call the place "The Wolfhouse." It pretty much established its name through that (minus the fact that I am a little person myself.) Our shows are little, but that's a whole different story. We have a lot of heart.
3. How long have you been booking?
It'll be one year next month (December).
4. Where do you book?
We are expanding but currently in Atlantic City, and Gloucester City.
5. What kind of shows/bands do you book?
All kinds. All genres. As a booker, I have to be open to all types of music. My ears are always open, and I always give everyone a chance.
6. How can a band be booked by you?
They can visit our Facebook athttp://www.facebook.com/littlehousebooking or email us at LittleHouseBooking@gmail.com.
7. What’s your favorite venue to book?
My current favorite venue to book is Le Grand Fromage in Atlantic City since I have been booking there the longest. The owner and I have established a pretty solid friendship, and he does me a ton of favors. We make a great team.
8. Have you met any big name bands in the booking process?
We currently deal with a lot of smaller acts and bands at the moment, but the biggest names I have dealt with so far in a years time is Steve Soboslai from Punchline, Joe Jack from Dead Milkmen, Major League, and Such Gold. I definitely hope to work with more bigger acts in the future. We are just starting off, so it definitely will take some time.
9. Has anyone who you’ve booked gone on to bigger and better things?
I've seen some of the bands we've booked play big festivals such as Warped Tour. Our shows are just a small stepping stone for these bands. We hope they gain some kind of exposure out of it, network with each other, and eventually grow to be something big. They are all definitely capable of it.
10. How long have you been doing this/How old were you when you started?
Since December 2011. 24 years old.
11. Where can my readers find Little House Booking online?
12. Do you have any final thoughts for my readers/any words of wisdom to up and coming bands?
This is our passion. This is what we love to do. Come out to a show, and see for yourself why we choose to do this. Open your ears to the local bands, because they are just as good as these bands that you hear on the radio, or on TV. They deserve your support and your attention. We provide you with the opportunity to hear them. Please, support your local scene, and please come out to a show to witness it for yourself. You won't regret it.

I encourage you to contact Dawn and Little House Booking if you're interested in playing in Atlantic or Gloucester City. Dawn booked Jocelyn (Harasstronauts) at Le Grand Fromage a few times and I really cannot thank her enough for doing so. The shows are a lot of fun. You should definitely check them out! For more information on shows, go like LHB on Facebook!

Thank you Dawnie for doing this interview with me and for booking Harasstronauts. Keep doing what you're doing. You're great at it and your shows are a lot of fun. :]

Remember, SUPPORT LOCAL MUSIC!

Ted T. Slape
September 8, 1957 - November 15, 2012

Well, Papa Slape, I've tried to write this several times, but I can never make it through. I'm determined this time, though. This is going to be written a little differently than the blog I wrote for Wendy and her family. Yours is going to be in letter form. I figured you would like that. Wish me luck. Here goes.

Papa Slape,
I'm not sure where to start. I met you when I was 17 years old and Senior in high school with Tyler. I will never forget the first time I met you. I walked in the door and you had a HUGE smile on your face and welcomed me into your home without hesitation.
"Hi! I'm Blair," I said.
"I've heard a lot about you. Boy you're tall! Well, come on in. I'm making hamburgers," you replied.
"Oh, that's okay. I don't really like hamburgers, Mr. Slape."
"Who's Mr. Slape? My name's Ted and you'll like my hamburger. I put cheese in the middle! I'll make you one anyway."
So, you made me a burger anyway and in true Blair fashion, I took it because I wanted to be polite. Well, I ended up eating the entire thing. It was delicious and when I told you so you looked at me in a way I'll never forget and simply said, "I told you."
And that was it. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. From that moment on, I was a Slape. You took me in and treated me like one of the family. I came over all the time and helped you with as much as I possibly could and in turn, you were like a father to me. You helped me through so much and taught me more than I could ever repay. I'll never forget the day we went to Bob Evan's for breakfast and you bought me the light up rubber ducky for my car. I'll never forget going to the movies with you guys. I'll never forget going to J.C.Penny and picking out what Brandan was going to wear to his (second) 8th grade dance. I'll never forget the birthday where you all made me a cake and sang to me. I'll never forget going to the prom with Tyler, meeting/approving Brendan's many girlfriends, and doing Ashley's hair. I'll never forget the open door policy where I could walk in whenever I wanted without knocking and I'll never forget how you always noticed when there was something different about me. Whether it be my hair color or cut or a piercing or tattoo or new shoes, you always noticed and complimented me, even if you didn't really like it. You just liked to be supportive. You were always supportive, no matter what. You embraced me for who I was and never wanted me to be anything I wasn't. You taught me that I wasn't broken or damaged because of my anxiety and that I could overcome it because I was a strong woman. Truthfully, if you hadn't always told me that, I don't know if I would believe it as much as I do today. My anxiety disorder may have taken over my life by now, who knows? But you were determined not to let that happen. You wanted to see me succeed. I'm sorry you didn't get to see me go as far as you would have liked, but I know you're proud of me and you'll always be proud of me. I'll miss baking you cookies for Christmas and bringing you flowers for Easter and mounds and almond joys on your birthday. I'll miss you living near by. I'll miss your smile, your laugh, and your support. I'll miss you. I know that Tyler, Brendan, Ashley and I and even Steve and Matt and all the other kids' lives you touched will never be without you. You will always be in our hearts, every minute of everyday, until we see you again. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly make you a promise. You always called me your oldest daughter and I always considered myself to be a big sister to Ashley and Brendan, but lately I've been slacking in that department. Well, that stops now. From this second on I promise you that I will be the very best big sister to them that I can possibly be, no matter what. They're in good hands. You raised Tyler to be one hell of an adult and if anyone can fill your shoes, I know he can. Your should be very proud of the man he's turned into. I know I am.

Basically, Papa Slape, what I'm trying to say is that I'm really going to miss you and I know a lot of other people are, too. You had the biggest heart of anyone I ever knew and you loved everybody, but I didn't really realize until today how many people appreciated and reciprocated that love. You were a truly great man and I'm happy to have known you. Rest easy, Papa Bear. I love you.

Love always your oldest daughter,
-Blair <3

UPADTE: I See Stars

I'm sure everyone can imagine just how OVERLY EXCITED I am about this, but I'll try to collect my thoughts enough to put together an informative post. Ready? Here we go.

Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE the band I See Stars. They are 6 of the nicest and most appreciative guys I've ever met or probably will ever meet and their music has gotten me through a lot. Recently ISS has been in the news a lot for feuding with (the evil) Ronnie Radke, formerly of Escape The Fate and now with Falling In Reverse. Though I always liked Ronnie and Falling In Reverse for their music, it's no surprise to anyone who's side I landed on. You can read all about the feud and see Ronnie's true colors in my previous post from a few days ago. Two of my particular favorite comments of Ronnie's during this whole thing have been, "Have I See Stars call me when they sell 30,000 records, at least!" and "People came to see me on this tour. I sell tickets. I See Stars does not sell tickets." Oh, really, Ronnie? I believe another one of my favorite bands, Asking Alexandria, feels a little differently.

On November 10, 2012 Asking Alexandria shared a link on their Facebook page explaining the feud between Ronnie and ISS with the comment, "watch this video. we take the Sumerian Records family very seriously. who thinks we should take I See Stars on tour with us?" This post exploded! With over 500 shares, 800 comment and 7,000 likes it was clear what fans wanted and AA was going to give it to them.

Tuesday morning AA and ISS decided to share some HUGE news that they just couldn't sit on anymore. AA's Facebook page reads:

"First and foremost I would like to talk about a dear friend of mine who was prematurely taken from us this month. Mitch Lucker was one of the kindest and most passionate people I have ever had the pleasure of calling my friend. My thoughts are not only with his family and friends, but also with the millions of people, worldwide, who Mitch helped to mould and inspire into the people they are today. A great man was lost who's love and passion reached all corners of the globe. As many of you know, Suicide Silence were preparing to join us on our upcoming 'Outbreak' Tour. Due to the devastating circumstances they will no longer be joining us physically. They will however, Mitch included, be with us in spirit. We will go out on this tour with As I Lay Dying, Memphis May Fire & Attila to pay our tributes and respects to Mitch and his brothers in Suicide Silence. A portion of all tickets and official tour t-shirts sold will go to Mitch's daughter for the Kenadee Lucker Education Fund.

Suicide Silence could never be replaced on our tour as they are the only band in the world who could bring their element, intensity and power to the line-up. For the sake of giving the fans the best show we can under the circumstances, we have decided to add Sumerian Records family members I See Stars to the bill, NOT AS A REPLACEMENT BY ANY MEANS, but as another band who's love and passion for music and their fans is as tried and true as ours. Now, more than ever, we need to come together to celebrate our collective love of music and to show compassion & solidarity in our scene. It's time to put aside all petty differences and remember what it is that brings us all together, the music. Mitch- from myself and everyone else who will be taking part in this tour, you are forever in our hearts. This one's for you. We love you. Cheers - Ben Bruce"

Now, for those of you who don't know and couldn't tell by the above post, Mitch Lucker was the lead singer of Suicide Silence who was taken from us earlier this month due to a motorcycle accident. SS was listed to go on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour 2012 with Asking Alexandria. Because of this horrible incident, they will no longer be a part of the tour so AA has asked ISS to fill their spot on the bill! While this is AMAZING news, it is also very sad for it forces us to remember a great voice and youth advocate, Mitch Lucker. Though I was never really a SS fan, I can imagine what they're feeling and my heart goes out to the band, their friends, their family and their fans. <3 The good news is, a portion of the tickets sold and the official tour t's will go to Mitch's little girl, Kenadee, and the entire tour will be dedicated to SS and Mitch. In addition to that, it's a BIG EFF YOU to Ronnie as he tries to save what's left of his career. :p You can't keep ISS fans down. That's a fact. ;]

The Outbreak Tour kicks off this Friday, November 16, in Alberta, Canada and has 20 dates.
The bands on the bill are INCREDIBLE and I, for one, can not wait to see them all!
My date is December 7 in Philly and you can bet I will be there. 8-)

Bands on the bill:

For tour dates, check out the "tour dates" section on any of the bands' Facebook pages.

Who will I be seeing on December 7th? Let me know! Let's rage! :D

"Save the partying for when you're famous." [Harasstronauts Update!]

Remember Jocelyn and her one girl band, Harasstronauts? Well, Coffee With Apollo came around again just this passed Friday and Jocelyn played 2 of her original songs! She has grown so much and greatly improved since I first heard her play that Regina Spektor cover of "On The Radio" a year ago. She's much more confident musically now and it shows. I asked Jocelyn if I could do an update interview with her and here's what she had to say about her musical endeavors.

NOTE: All Jocelyn's answers are REAL and appear just as she typed them. They have not been edited what so ever.

1. Why do you call yourself ‘Harasstronauts’?
In all honestly, there is this huge deep meaning to the word. I didn’t actually think of the name until later into having it. I originally chose the name just because it was a cool play on of words. But now Harasstronauts means this: The music and the sound I play is very alien to people when they first hear it. It’s not something they expect to hear from a teenage girl. Aliens, to me, are just lonesome astronauts harassing the human race. Not to mention my music is very spacey and science-fiction sounding!

2. What kind of music do you play?
I play a mix of Dream-Core and Synth-Pop. Its kinda like Crystal Castles and Ellie Goulding mixed together.

3. Where is you dream venue?
I haven’t ever taken the time to think about that, really. I dream of touring, but just to whatever venue I can get. If I had to say, it would probably be Webster Hall in NYC. I just want to play lots of outdoor events with bands who are like me.

4. How long have you been writing music?
Only a little over a year. I’ve always been creative and able to draw. I discovered my talent for musicianship when I was 16. I started covering songs on an electric keyboard. Everything just went on from there. It’s actually kind of weird to think how far I have come in that tiny amount of time.

5. Tell me about your latest single, ‘Crimson Hands’.
Every time I play this song for someone, they will ask if it’s about cutting. After a while, it gets old. The song is really about unwillingly losing my innocence starting when I was just in 6th grade. It kind of revolves around family situations and things that I was unaware of. In a nutshell, it is about my maturity and how I have handled a lot of situations since then.

6. Do you have any upcoming shows?
My next show is in Atlantic City at Le Grand Fromage on November 20th. Besides that, I haven’t booked myself for anywhere. I’ve been really busy with recording. But my goal is at least one show per month.

7. When will your album be released?
I am working my hardest at the moment to get all my tracks finished. I want to have it released before the end of summer 2013. If not, I’ll be trying to finish while I’m in college and I know I won’t have any time to dedicate to the album.

8. Where can my readers go to listen to your music?
They can visit my soundcloud and my youtube. I only really have live stuff and some demo releases, but most of it gets the point of my music across

9. What can my readers expect from you in the future?
I am REALLY trying to pull together a weekly vlog, I had one going for a little but I began to run out of significant and relative things to talk about. I am also going to try to put out a 4-piece EP as soon as possible so I can send it out to bands to see if I can get a tour together before I go away to college. I’m not sure yet. I think I’m just getting my hopes up.

10. Any closing thoughts for my readers?
Don’t do drugs. Stay in school, accept everyone. No seriously. I followed all three of those and I’ve turned out great. Save the partying for when you’re famous.

I'm so proud of Jocelyn and I'm so glad that I get to experience this journey with her and see her grown and improve. In addition to keyboard, she also recently taught herself guitar and played one of her songs acoustically at Coffee With Apollo. Please be sure to check her out if you haven't already, subscribe to her youtube channel and keep checking here for updates on her and her musical career. I expect great things from this girl.

Below is a video from Coffee With Apollo of Jocelyn performing her latest single,
Crimson Hands.

"Human Is Interesting" [Meet Autumn]

See that girl up there? She's Autumn Rose Bobb. She goes to the high school in my town and I recently caught up with her at another Coffee With Apollo event at the local library. Remember? That's where I discovered Jocelyn? (Coming soon: follow up with Jocelyn) Well, Autumn doesn't sing. I mean, she does, but that's not what caught my attention...this is. It's a poem she wrote that really requires no introduction. It's entitled, "Your Definition of "Human" is Different From Mine". Enjoy.

Your Definition of “Human” is Different From Mine
"Somewhere out there, a girl is suicidal, but no one takes her seriously because you and your friends treat suicide like a joke.
And now, it's just a matter of bragging rights like, "Hell yeah, I've tried! You haven't?"
And so, her peers rolled their eyes when she said, "I'm going to kill myself tonight."
And somewhere out there, a kid is slitting his wrists because no one listens to him,
because he's so uncomfortable in his own skin that he'll do anything to get out,
and you're calling this glamorous?
Somewhere out there is a girl with a toothbrush down her throat, puking blood into the shower drain.
She'll die on her knees, and you have the nerve to call yourself "kinda bulimic" because you tried it once in the 8th grade?
Somewhere out there, someone is starving themselves,
but no one will see it because you decided to skip a meal and cry about it on the internet.
"I skipped breakfast, it's so hard being anorexic!"
You read "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and now you think it's cute as hell to be awkward,
so you tell me, "I'm just like Charlie!",
while somewhere out there, a boy is too scared to leave his bedroom,
or to make eye contact with strangers,
or to speak when he answers the phone,
and you think that's trendy?
It's cool to be sick suddenly,
to hate yourself and to want to gouge your eyes out when you look in the mirror,
and depression is a badge you'd like to brag about.
Now, eating disorders are a facebook status,
so that you friends can comment and say,
"You're beautiful! Stay strong!"
You complain to everyone about how ugly you are, but the only ugly thing about you is the fact that you're willing to dive into this pool of fake self-hate and soak in the attention and compliments that wash over you.
You see suicidal sociopaths depicted as cute boys with mommy issues on T.V. and say,
"Mom, I want to go to therapy!"
because it sure seems fun to want to die,
doesn't it?
It seems fun to swallow pills that make you a zombie without emotions,
and to have that label on you:
Depressed.
"I'm so depressed, give me sympathy!"
Somewhere, a corpse is hanging from a rope.
Now, tell me how that's glamorous.
We've glorified sickness, so now it's meaningless,
And if you're so desperate to feel interesting that you want to trivialize the sick just to make friends,
let me tell you something:
Interesting is fluency in 9 different languages,
Interesing is a poem not yet written,
Interesting is an srtist who paints portraits of strangers on the bus.
It's interesting to care and it's interesting to be kind,
But if you're so dull and attention hungry that you think sticking a label of sickness on you will make you "cool..."
maybe you should shut off the computer,
leave your room,
and go out into the real world.
Yes, we're all sad sometimes and,
yes, we all want to be beautiful.
We get nervous when we meet new people,
that's human.
That doesn't mean that you're sick or strange or fascinating.
Somewhere out there are people who really need help
and they struggle to be heard over the millions of teenagers screaming,
"Hear me! Hear me!"
Shut it down.
Realize that you're lucky to be healthy
and stop lying
and diagnosing
and bragging
because it's disgusting.
You aren't helping anybody.
Learn the difference now,
between sadness and depression,
between hunger and anorexia,
between a problem and a dry spell.
You're human,
and that makes you interesting.
An illness is a tragedy,
it's not beautiful or newsworthy.
There is nothing glamorous about a slit wrist,
or a corpse in a coffin,
and there is nothing glamorous about wanting this.
So, here's a satirical thanks to everyone who's made it the social norm to hate themselves,
while there are kids who can't even stand to open their eyes in the morning, while they think,
"Damn, I woke up again..."
Thanks for the new trend, assholes!"

After I heard Autumn recite this wonderful poem I talked to her and asked if she would be willing to share it with my readers. She said she would love to. I asked her what her inspiration was for the poem. This was her reply.

"This is partly my original work, but partly not. I borrowed the basic backbone of this poem from Hannah Ragland and reconstructed it as a whole, and took me about one night to complete. My main inspiration for this was a girl I was friends with, who will remain unnamed for obvious reasons. She would spill her “life story” (and I use that term loosely) to me, talking about how she hand sliced her wrists open right down the middle and had to be stitched up several times when there was no sign of any scarring, admitting to me that she was a rape victim and talking about her sexual harassment, which if she was so uncomfortable about, she wouldn’t have spoken of, and about her suicide attempts. She had told me she was kidnapped on numerous occasions and that she had spent the first years of her life in a mental hospital with her mother. I was talking to her one night and I just completely zoned out. I thought about all of the people who did this kind of thing, who pretended to be sick to seem “interesting” or to grab attention and sympathy from others. I was outraged. It’s literally so hard to wrap my mind around the fact that people want to pretend to have these problems for the most selfish reasons. They don’t understand and they don’t know how it feels. This girl just kept going on and on, knowing that I had experienced some of these things first hand, and just laughing it off, saying, “I don’t need therapy, I just need one good cry and then I’m better!” Well, that’s not how it is, and if this girl actually had the problems she said she did, she would most definitely not be talking about it so nonchalantly. I’m not longer that girl’s friend, and this is what had developed from it. Not only to her, but also to all the other pretenders who like to cry wolf: You’re taking attention and help away from the ones who need it most."

Autumn would like those of you who wish to donate to please check out NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and make a donation to them. If you are unable to donate, I encourage you to check out NAMI anyway by clicking the link above and reading up on mental illness and educating yourself.

I would like to thank the lovely and talented Autumn for lending me her poem and giving me permission to publish it on my blog. If you'd like to chat with Autumn, feel free to add her or message her on Facebook by clicking on her name in the first paragraph.

Thanks for caring,

I See Stars vs. Ronnie Radke

It's no secret that my heart belongs to I See Stars so this post is going to be biest. Fair warning. Anyone who knows me know that I'll always have a soft spot for them. I mean, I have their logo tattooed on my back! I'm a fan for life! I still listen to other music, though. I'm no one trick pony. Like Falling In Reverse for example. They're a pretty good band, right? And their front man and founder, Ronnie Radke, seemed to pull it all together after his time behind bars for MURDER, right? He has been sober for 4+ years so that should count for something, right? Well apparently Mr. Radke isn't working his sobriety properly. He's gone from abusing substances to abusing people. Here's what I mean.

"The Thug In Me Is You" Tour with headliner FIR kicked off not too long ago. I See Stars was one of their opening bands. ISS was asked specifically by Ronnie to be on the tour. Then, suddenly, on November 2, 2012 (the drummer for ISS, Andrew Oliver's birthday), ISS was mysteriously kicked off the tour by Ronnie. His timing really couldn't have been any worse because guess where the tour was scheduled to play that night. Detroit, MI. And take a guess as to where ISS is from. That's right. So you see the idiocracy behind the timing of Ronnie's decision.
On that same night, Ronnie posted a status of FIR's Facebook page that reads as follows:

"I wanted to let everyone know I See Stars is no longer on the tour. We had offered them the tour several months back and then not long after we sent the offer, the entire band was arrested for drug possession. If you have been following my story, you know I am very serious about my sobriety and have been sober for 4+ years now. I decided to remove them from the tour at that time as I did not want drug users in my environment. After we informed them they would no longer be on the tour for that reason, their label approached us and asked us to give them a 2nd chance, they assured us the band would not use drugs and they would be professional on my tour. We came to an agreement and I gave them their 2nd chance. Throughout this entire tour, they have been unprofessional. They have rarely showed up on time and have caused undue difficulty on my crew plus employees of the various venues. It's been next to impossible to keep the show running on time. I feel at this point we have no choice but to continue on without them. We're simply trying to deliver the best possible show to all you guys and we don't feel like we can do that with I See Stars. We're stoked to continue on with Enter Shikari, Letlive and Matt Toka (on select dates). I'll see you at the shows. Love and respect, Ronnie."

The same night, ISS posted their own status. It reads as follows:

"We have been kicked off the Falling In Reverse Tour by Ronnie Radke. It has nothing to do with "drugs" or "being late" His statement is entirely false. An official statement from Sumerian Records showing the truth of why we were removed is coming. All emails and contracts have been documented and will be shown publicly in the response to Ronnie's post. You will find out exactly what happened and you will be disgusted to say the least. We promise you us getting ejected today has absolutely nothing to do with his lies about drug use on the tour or being late. It has everything to do with Ronnie's antagonistic violent behavior towards us, his ego, his malicious intent, his financial greed and his demands of no one being allowed to know the truth behind the scenes of this tour."

Finally, the next day Sumerian Records posted their own press release explaining their side of the story. Here it is.

"Months ago before "The Thug In Me Is You" tour started, a cop found marijuana in our van. We were arrested. As a result, Ronnie said we were kicked off the upcoming tour.

All the shows on the tour were already on sale with our name being advertised, so we didn't think it was fair to th

e fans or to ourselves to not be able to go play where people were expecting us. We offered Ronnie to play the shows for free so he could keep our pay every night of the entire tour as long as we could still keep our commitment to the fans, i.e. the people who are the reason any of this is even possible. Ronnie said OK and allowed us back on the tour but said that we would have to sign paperwork saying we would not tell anyone that we weren't getting paid to be on the tour. The venues and the fans were both not allowed to know the truth, because Ronnie knew it would make him look really bad to the world. The fact that money changed Ronnie's mind about kicking us off the tour just goes to show his lack of integrity. If he was really that concerned or fundamentally against that we got caught with a little weed, then the extra cash in his pocket wouldn't have changed his decision.

Because Sumerian Records was willing to give us a serious amount of financial tour support, we were still able to hit the road without getting paid. However we would quickly find out that us agreeing to Ronnie's ridiculous terms of silence and playing for free were simply not good enough for him. He resulted to threatening violence against Zach in Grand Rapids because "he didn't like his stupid f'n face" and then the next night in our hometown of Detroit kicked us off the tour. His 47-year old tour manager then physically assaulted our tour manager and the FIR camp once again resorted to violent behavior. Ronnie would later that night throw fans out who paid to get in to the show because they are chanting another band's name and make fun of their physical attributes in front of everyone. That is the act of a true coward.

We have been lucky enough to to tour with a lot of great bands like Parkway Drive, Suicide Silence, Asking Alexandria, Trivium, Motionless In White, A Day To Remember, Stick To Your Guns, Memphis May Fire, The Word Alive and others.. and never had a problem. We want to thank Enter Shikari, LetLive, Matt Toka and all the other members of Falling In Reverse besides Ronnie for being great people and a true pleasure to tour with. We are sorry to all the fans out there who were expecting to see us. We'll be back as soon as we can.

-I See Stars

There is nothing cool, rock & roll, punk rock, or admirable about treating your peers or fans like they are pieces of garbage. Ronnie Radke is not a good human being. It's one thing to love someone's music, but do not love someone as an individual for who they are not. We do not think it is a coincidence this is the same guy who was arrested for the horrible, violent things you can read about in the links below. He cares about no one but himself and he has reminded us all of this. His latest tweet "people at our shows come to see us everything else is irrelevant. Nuff said." is his way of telling all the other bands he tours with that they don't matter. Why any artist would throw that type of negativity and disrespect out is something we will never understand. This scene is supposed to be about compassion and understanding. Ronnie is rotten.

Out of respect for the industry professionals involved in this debacle, we will not be publicly disclosing any legal documents on the internet. We can confirm that Ronnie kicked the band off the tour but allowed them back on after they forfeited their pay. We can confirm that they were being forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement regarding this in order to stay on the tour. We can confirm that I See Stars were not kicked off yesterday in Detroit because of anything to do with drugs. It was because a grown man was throwing a temper tantrum who claims to be "rock & roll" but is actually worse than a neurotic pop-star diva with a God complex. Just because you no longer do drugs doesn't mean you are no longer a horrible human being. Ronnie now abuses people instead of substances."

In true FilthFriend fashion, ISS fans are not having this. Once they heard what they believe to be the real story, they're now in an uproar! ISS fans are still showing up at the dates on the "Thug In My Is You" Tour and representing/supporting ISS...hard! It's really getting to Ronnie, too.

See what I mean.

Nov. 2, Detroit, MI

And then again.

Nov. 3, Clifton Park, NY

Here's what some of the kids who got ejected had to say.

Now, for many fans this has proven to be quite conflicting. Who's lying? Who's telling the truth? Who's right? Who's wrong? Do I pick a side? Do I stay out of it? Should these people's personal lives and feuds effect the way I feel about them and their music? It's a lot to ask yourself. I'm sure there's no need to tell you how I feel, but I want to know about you.

Question for you: In this scenario and going by these statements and videos alone, who's right and who's wrong? Why?

Tell me what you think!

Can't Keep Me Down

Those 8 little words up there have become my motto lately. I've been going through a lot in the passed 10 months or so and now I'm FINALLY crawling out of the deep, dark hole I dug for myself. It's not the easiest endeavour, but it's one that I am fully committed to. Without going into too much detail, I am in no way, shape, or form affiliated with God Is Not A Bully anymore. This is my new blog, which I assure you will be MUCH better than my last because I don't write for or answer to anyone. This is MINE and all MINE. :]

I would like to thank all of my supporters from the bottom on my heart and I'm so sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you, but I really have no control over the situation.  I was handed lemons and had to make lemonade very quickly. haha. I realize this post doesn't provide much insight or detail, but I'm not into mud slinging. I am, however, into karma. ;] This post is mainly just to thank you all and apologize. I'm no wasting any time, though. My next post will get us right back in the swing of things. I have so many great ideas for posts!

Question for you: Have you ever gone through an extremely rough time you didn't think you would make it through? Are you going through one now? Do you have any questions about mine or would you like advice? Ask away!

Thank you again. I love you all.
